Job Description:

At Regions, the Consumer Credit Risk Quantitative Analyst utilizes analytical and statistical methods to quantify credit risk, automate and optimize lending decisions, and forecast credit performance. The Analyst is responsible for determining the effectiveness of credit risk management strategies, including origination, collections and account management strategies and for suggesting strategy improvements. The Quantitative Analyst will work within the Regions risk management framework to identify, measure, mitigate, monitor and report on credit risk.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Executes data retrieval, and designing reporting using SAS and other data management tools for data analytics, model building, and model monitoring

  • Prepares analysis and reporting on advanced automated decision strategies in the full life cycle of consumer banking products such as Home Equity, Auto, and Credit Card

  • Builds and documents decision trees, credit scoring models and behavioral scores

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Quantitative Finance or another quantitative discipline plus at least five (5) years of practical experience

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and decision making skills

  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

  • Experienced with advanced programming languages, such as SAS, Python or SQL

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Preferences

  • Intermediate or Advanced SAS programming skills

  • Appropriate professional or technical certification(s), such as SAS Certification, FRM, CFA

  • At least three (3) years of banking or credit risk experience

  • Understanding of credit risk analytics and/or experience with underwriting cut-off analysis, strategy analysis, and collections analytics

  • Understanding of credit risk analytics, strategy analysis, and collections analytics

  • Working knowledge credit servicing systems, such as ACAPS, Triad, TSYS and ACLS

  • Knowledge of consumer credit products

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical problem solving skills

  • Experience with advanced analytical and statistical techniques

  • Experience in data mining, statistical and computational methods including logistic regression and Decision tree analysis

  • Complex problem solving

  • Ability to get along with a wide range of people and to work on a team

  • Capable of working on multiple projects, meeting tight deadlines, and executing key tasks accurately

  • Works collaboratively with senior level managers of credit risk
