Job Description:

At Regions, the Project Manager leads large or multiple complex projects with significant scope and impact while working independently on difficult assignments that are broad in nature requiring ingenuity with some latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions. This position partners with business leaders and managers to manage projects and their delivery through multi-disciplinary teams to achieve specific business outcomes while being held accountable for project results. This position may have supervisory responsibilities for 2 - 5 associates.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Shapes/leads organizational efforts translating strategy into results by converting business needs into tangible delivery work

  • Defines, develops, and manages the overall project schedule to ensure work is assigned and completed on time and within budget

  • Guides teams through project structuring, problem definition, issues identification, and resolution development using problem solving principles and past experience

  • Identifies, prioritizes, and quantifies project opportunities based on assessment activities and an understanding of high level vision, performance gaps, and needs relative to business drivers within the banking industry

  • Identifies, engages, and leads multi-disciplinary teams to plan and deliver the business outcomes of the projects assigned

  • Assesses and manages risk throughout the project lifecycle and works with key stakeholders to deliver risk mitigation plans as needed

  • Identifies and shapes opportunities to provide or create additional business value

  • Maintains responsibility and accountability for quality and accuracy of all deliverables associated with the projects assigned

  • Executes departmental projects and tasks as assigned

  • Mentors other associates in developing/honing business knowledge, analytical skills, and project management skills

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related study

  • Ten (10) years of project management related experience

  • Seven (7) years of banking or financial services experience

Preferences

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Master's degree

  • Management / supervisory experience

Skills and Competencies

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)

  • Ability to create and deliver influential large scale project communications with clarity, confidence, and enthusiasm

  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and multiple commitments / projects simultaneously

  • Superior written / verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Deep understanding of project management methodologies and best practices (PMBOK, ITIL, SDLC, Agile, etc)

  • Understanding of leadership development and engagement techniques in professional corporate settings

This position will serve as the head project manager for the company’s transition away from the London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) over the next 3+ years, with the role transitioning to lead other projects thereafter. The LIBOR rate is used in many areas of the bank including loans, deposits, capital markets products, and treasury. Regulators have communicated that banks should proceed with transitioning from the LIBOR rate to an acceptable alternative rate(s) by year-end 2021. To accomplish this, Regions has organized a LIBOR Transition Program with several sub-projects that will be managed by project managers across the bank. The LIBOR Head Project Manager will lead these sub-project managers in managing deliverables, meeting all deadlines, maintaining documentation, and aggregating results for the overall program. Transitioning away from the LIBOR rate under tight timelines will require the ability to work well across different functions, oversee various sub-projects, and communicate challenges and progress at all levels of the organization. The LIBOR Head Project Manager will focus on the project management aspects of the LIBOR Program, while serving alongside the LIBOR Transition Manager who will be focused on governance, communication, legal issues, and strategy for transitioning away from LIBOR. Both of these roles report to the Head of the LIBOR Transition. The position will not have direct reports, but will lead many other individuals across the company in accomplishing the goals of the LIBOR Transition Program. Therefore, the suitable candidate must have the ability to motivate and mentor other associates. Banking or consulting experience is preferred though not required.
